Stacy, I'll make a point of changing my blog to reflect that as well. I'm sorry I didn't do so earlier because it is an important distinction.

Also adding to the SO TIRED chorus.

Selah,
Thanks for the link. I do want to point out that the blog post you and Barb pointed to was on my own personal blog, not a Harlequin blog. I was not speaking as a representative of Harlequin, just commenting on an interesting turn of events in the publishing world. I've since decided to drop the Horizons discussion b/c it was causing me too much stress. If you want to read my thoughts on that: http://stacyboyd.wordpress.com/2009/11/20/horizons-the-final-word/

In the meantime, I'm with you. So TIRED.

Barb~ Yes, but the pointing and the mocking arrive right on schedule every time romance is mentioned, in ANY context. I've learned to mentally pat the pointers and mockers on their flat little heads and think, "Bless your hearts." *shrug* Works for me.

Katrina~ "Interesting" is one word for it. Can it be over now, please? I'm TIRED.

I keep checking my calendar but no, it's not April 1st. Very very interesting chain reaction of events, this has been.

As has been noted pretty much everywhere on the publishing blogosphere, Harlequin has caved in the face of general censure and sanctions from the RWA, SFWA and MWA.

You forgot to mention the pointing and mocking as well.

Because really, that's what romance really needed.

I'm disappointed, but not surprised at the responses at Scalzi's post but I suppose it's only what should be expected. However, I've also been pleasantly surprised by some of the responses and the support there as well, so I suppose it goes both ways.
